2018 Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise Charity Partners

What is a Charity Partner?  These organizations are those that Shorewood Kiwanis supports normally.  Each year, on the day of the Cruise, these groups go to work and help cover the huge cruise route area selling T-shirts and taking donations.  They are the first to receive any donations from the Cruise profits - receiving money from each shirt sold and all the donations in their on-site canisters.  We love these partners, and appreciate everything they do for the community, and for helping us by working hard the day of the actual cruise.

SHOREWOOD KIWANIS CLUB OF MICHIGAN

Care of Southeastern Michigan

CARE of Southeastern Michigan provides leading-edge programs to address addiction and behavioral health concerns for youth, adults, and families.  Our programs promote healthy lifestyles, disease reduction, parent empowerment and the strengthening of the fabric of our communities. CARE is passionate about serving the needs of people with low to moderate income. Some services we provide include education on substance use prevention, summer camps, parenting classes, substance abuse assessments, peer recovery coaching, counseling, and crisis support services to over 40,000 people annually.

Macomb Chamber Music Society

The Macomb Chamber is not only a Charity Partner for our largest fundraiser of the year, they are also our partner for the Summer Concert Series sponsored by Shorewood Kiwanis every Monday night in Wahby Park.  We began this joint effort in celebration of our 50th Anniversary and experimenting with something new that we could do for our community.  It was so popular, 8 years later it is a staple in our service to the community of SCS.  If you click on their name above, it will direct you to a page in our website with information about MCMS and our schedule of upcoming concerts.

Cultural Committee

The St Clair Shores Cultural Committee is a group of volunteers sanctioned by the city to promote and support access to the arts in their many forms for our residents and others. Our partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts has been particularly rewarding as they provide bus transportation to the museum and many of the speakers that make up our bi-monthly lectures at the SCS Library. In addition to DIA tours and talks, we arrange children’s programs at the Library encompassing art creation and dance, as well as tours for all ages of places and things important to learning and understanding the diverse culture and history of our Metro Detroit area.

Wigs 4 Kids

Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan provides wigs & support services to Michigan children ages 3 through 18 experiencing hair loss as a result of illness & treatment at no charge. Founded in 2003, we are celebrating our 15th Anniversary and have provided over 4,000 wigs and support services to the children of Michigan. We are grateful to partner with the Shorewood Kiwanis as one of its charities of choice for the annual Harper Cruise here in our hometown. If you ever know of a child in need, please call 586-772-6656 as we charge nothing, help everyone and turn no one away.
