2018 Shorewood Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise Charity Partners

What is a Charity Partner?  These organizations are those that Shorewood Kiwanis supports normally.  Each year, on the day of the Cruise, these groups go to work and help cover the huge cruise route area selling T-shirts and taking donations.  They are the first to receive any donations from the Cruise profits - receiving money from each shirt sold and all the donations in their on-site cannisters.  We love these partners, and appreciate everything they do for the community, and for helping us by working hard the day of the actual cruise.

Care of SE MI

CARE of Southeastern Michigan provides leading edge programs and resources to address addiction and mental health concerns; promote healthy lifestyles; reduce disease; empower parents; and strengthen the fabric of our communities. CARE is passionate about serving the needs of low and moderate income individuals and families who have few places to turn for help. We provide prevention education, summer camp experiences, peer recovery coaches, counseling, crisis support, and case management services to over 20,000 children, teens, parents, and seniors every year.

The Macomb Chamber is not only a Charity Partner for our largest fundraiser of the year, they are also our partner for the Summer Concert Series sponsored by Shorewood Kiwanis every Monday night in Wahby Park.  We began this joint effort in celebration of our 50th Anniversary and experimenting with something new that we could do for our community.  It was so popular, 8 years later it is a staple in our service to the community of SCS.  If you click on their name above, it will direct you to a page in our website with information about MCMS and our schedule of upcoming concerts.

The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood is proud to work side by side with these wonderful organizations.  All proceeds allocated to Shorewood are donated right back into our community through our more than 50 community service projects, donations and more.  Click on our logo to visit our Facebook Page and "like" us so that you can see the activity as it unfolds.  Our followers receive a constant flow of information regarding upcoming event, speakers for meetings and direction to our most updated website page.

Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids

The St Clair Shores Cultural Committee is a group of volunteers sanctioned by the city to promote and support access to the arts in their many forms for our residents and others. Our partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts has been particularly rewarding as they provide bus transportation to the museum and many of the speakers that make up our bi-monthly lectures  at the SCS Library. In addition to DIA tours and talks, we arrange children’s programs at the Library encompassing art creation and dance, as well as tours for all ages of places and things important to learning and understanding the diverse culture and history of our Metro Detroit area.

Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids provides wigs & support services to Michigan children ages 3 through 18 experiencing hair loss as a result of illness & treatment at no charge. Founded in 2003, we have provided over 2,500 wigs and services to the children of Michigan.Wigs 4 Kids is grateful to partner with the Shorewood Kiwanis as one of its charities of choice for the annual Harper Cruise here in our hometown. If you ever know of a child in need of our services, please refer them to us by calling 586-772-6656 as we charge nothing, help everyone and turn no one away.
