March 17, 2016 - Shorewood Kiwanis Annual Goodie Bag Wrap
         43rd year and still going strong!  This event is our pre-event to the Shorewood Kiwanis Special Needs Children's Day at the Ice Show, see more information below.
 4:15 PM-6:15 PM at Senior Activities Center,  at St. Clair Shores Civic Arena, 20000 Stephens Drive, SCS, MI 48080 We provide every attendee with a goodie bag containing a juice box, chips, (2) fruit snacks and a package of swiss rolls. We need all hands on deck for this packaging event - we always make extra for volunteers, and hand out 2nd's if available during intermission.  However, due to time constraints, we only have the room until 6:15 - 2 hours to create 1050 bags! Contact Karen Biafora, Committee Chair, direct if you wish to participate in this event at (586) 350-5219 or
March 18, 2016 - Shorewood Kiwanis Special Needs Children's Day at the Ice Show
         43rd year and still going strong!  Shorewood Kiwanis works in conjunction with th St. Clair Shores Figure Skating Club Annual Review and provides one of the most appreciative audiences ever.  During their dress rehearsal, our special guests come, and their only expense is the cost of transportation to get there.  We drop the boundaries of SCS and have guests coming from as far away as Port Huron, Capac, Washington and Detroit.   As of 3.5.16 we have 1000 RSVP's for guests, chaperones and teachers.  Of this 1000, 60 guests will be in wheelchairs.            
             11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena, 20000 Stephens Drive, SCS, MI 48080   
All volunteers for this event should be on site no later than 9:30 AM, guests begin their arrival at 10:00 AM and the show begins PROMPTLY at 11:00 AM.  We need folks to hand out bags, assist with wheelchair guests and their caregivers.  Show ends at 1:00 PM, with a brief intermission inbetween. May 22, 2016 - Randy's 6th Annual Hot Rods & Hot Cakes Shorewood Kiwanis/VFW 1146 Bruce Post Event

     8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at VFW 1146 Bruce Post, 28404 Jefferson Ave, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081

Car Show registration begins promptly at 8:00 am, $20.00 registration fee, day of event only.  All you can eat pancake breakfast, $7.00 for adults, 6 & under $4.00.  A great family friendly event overlooking beautiful Lake St. Clair. Car judging begins promptly at 1:00 with awards presentation immediately following.  If you are interested in sponsoring a trophy or volunteering for this event, contact Committee Chair Dr. Carl Papa at for more information, questions or to sponsor a trophy for the car judging. This is fast becoming a St. Clair Shores favorite event as all proceeds go to the needy children of our community and special programs to supports our Veterans and their families, who have served us all so well.


June 4th, 2016 - Shorewood Kiwanis 4th Annual Rubber Ducky Derby for Autism

      11:00AM with the official ducky launch at 12: 30 PM.

Never been to a rubber ducky derby?  Visit our event page here for complete details or download our official sponsorship packet of information for FAQ's, Sponsorship Participation Form and more hereNEW FOR 2016: All funds raised by this event will directly benefit the patients and families of the HFHS CADD program struggling to meet their co-pays, deductibles or those without insurance.  A fund will be created by the Shorewood Kiwanis Foundation to manage  and issue these mini grants, with checks made out to the patient's family and HFHS CADD to ensure that the funds will be utilized directly for ABA therapy. Read all about the effectiveness of this therapy for children suffering from one of the many conditions that fall under the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) umbrella.  Shorewood Kiwanis is so very please that funds generated by this event will directly benefit the suffering children of our community.


June 4th, 2016 - Shorewood Kiwanis & Life Handicapped Outdoors
     Co-Sponsored Event - Handicapped Children & Adults Fishing Derby

       9:30 am - Noon - Fishing Derby, Noon - 1 pm Lunch, 1:00 pm Awards Presentation  
       Location: Brandenburg Memorail Park, 50050 Jefferson Avenue, Chesterfield Township, MI  48047

Life Handicapped Outdoors has been hosting this event for 21 years.  A driving force behind this event is our own, Lou Calloia, who has worked in conjunction with Life Handicapped Outdoors to host this amazing event.  Shorewood Kiwanis is please and honored to be a co-sponsor of this annual event as part of our continual community outreach for special needs children and adults.  Breakfast, a snack and lunch are provided, at no cost to the attendees.  All the fishing equipment is provided and at the end of the event prizes and awards are presented to the participants.  No separate fishing license is required.  Tax deductible donations toward this event are gratefully accepted and much appreciated.  Any and all volunteers are welcome.  Please contact Mr. Lou Calloia if you have donations or are simply interested in volunteering.  Contact Lou regarding this amazing service project at

What: Free Summer Concerts

Where: Wahby Park on Jefferson just South of Ten Mile Rd.

When: Every Monday Evening during July and August at 7:00PM

The Macomb Chamber Music Society has been partnered with Shorewood Kiwanis since 2009.

The Shorewood Kiwanis 50th  Anniversary celebration gifted The Summer Concert Series to the City of Saint Clair Shores. They believe that service and education to our children and community is a number one priority. This is our eighth Season – where Mom and Dad and their children can come to listen and delight in a fine music performance for the “right price” (Free).  Please continue to attend, enjoy, and support this unique experience. July 18-19, 2016, Shorewood Kiwanis Family Fishing Event /SCS Aqua Fest Event 

              All are welcome, children must be acconpanied by a parent or guardian - fun day of pole fishing!

August 7, 2016 Shorewood Kiwanis Annual Christmas in August

             8:00 am - 9:00am - KMart at 9 & Harper in St. Clair Shores

             One of our favorite projects! This is our time of year to take 25-40 families in need shopping at KMart, our co-sponsor, for back to school clothing.  Each child has a budget of $100.00 and is accompanied by a volunteer to help them shop sale and make their allotment go as far as possible! KMart opens an hour early just for us, so we can ge through the store quickly and check out in a timely fashion.  If you wish to participate in this truly rewarding and fun project, contact Project Chairperson Sharon Gwizdowski at to participate or even recommend someone in true need.


August 10, 2016 Co-Sponsored Event, Handicapped Children's Fishing Derby

         38th Annual Handicapped Fishing Derby Hosted by Island Harbor Marina and the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MPBA)
             9:00am-1:00pm at Island Harbor Marina 24102 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080

9/10 & 11/16 Michigan Deptartment of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Program 

             Co-Sponsored by Shorewood Kiwanis and the St. Clair Shores Police Department. 

             Once again the above organizations are sponsoring the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Program.  This training is mandatory for anyone born after January 1, 1960 who wish to purchase a Michigan Hunting License.  It is also mandary for anyone who wishes to hunt in Canada or another state. Priority will be given to persons attending this class who attain the age of twelve (12) year by September 30, 2015.  Download the official notice here provided by Detective Cherie Mascarello.

             When: Registration begins at 7:30 am-8:00am, Class begins promptly at 8:00 am
              Day 1 - 9/10/16, Day 2 - 9/11/16 - YOU MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS TO COMPLETE THIS PROGRAM

Pre-Registration is required, and the class is limited to the first 100 applicants. Registration forms are availabe beginning on 8/22/16 at the front desk of the St. Clair Shores Police Department.  The Hunter Safety Class is FREE, courtesy of Shorewood Kiwanis.
