Please participate by supporting this worthy cause by making a donation to the Kiwanis Club of Shorewood Foundation fund to assist financially-challenged autistic patients of the various clinics specializing in leading edge techniques for this Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
With the aid of benefactor Barry Ludvigsson of GWillies, his partners and a core group of loyal customers, Shorewood Kiwanis continues our community outreach, serving the community one child at a time, now targeting children that fall into ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders)who can benefit from successful ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) therapy programs! Formerly "The Rubber Ducky Derby", this new event allows Shorewood to continue to support the efforts of autistic patient practitioners who utilize leading edge therapy techniques and this year is our sixth year in a row to fundraise for this important cause. The cost of this therapy is often beyond the means and insurance benefits of families associated with these broad spectrum disorders. All net proceeds for this event will benefit financially-challenged patients - supporting early intervention services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.*
"CDC estimates that 1 in 68 children have been identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)" (CDC, 2017)
Follow this link for detailed information regarding the many disorders that fall into ADS: https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/data.html
“ASD is a neurobiological disorder that typically affects development within the first three years of life” (AAoM, n.d.)
“There is currently no cure for Autism Spectrum Disorders. However, research shows that early intervention treatment can greatly improve a child’s development” (CDC, 2017)
The average cost for intensive ABA therapy is around $50,000 per year for a child.
